“Although I am less than the least of all God’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.” Ephesians 3:8-9
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
You, who unto Jesus for refuge have fled?
In every condition, in sickness, in health;
In poverty’s vale, or abounding in wealth;
At home and abroad, on the land, on the sea,
As thy days may demand, shall thy strength ever be.
Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
For I am thy God and will still give thee aid;
I’ll strengthen and help thee, and cause thee to stand
Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.
When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
The rivers of woe shall not thee overflow;
For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.
When through fiery trials thy pathways shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.
Even down to old age all My people shall prove
My sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love;
And when hoary hairs shall their temples adorn,
Like lambs they shall still in My bosom be borne.
The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to its foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.
John Rippon, 1787
The above quote from Ephesians, should be a battle cry to all Christians, not to seek the things of this world, but to pray for everyone of God’s children to receive the gifts of grace that are always taken for granted. The gift of wisdom and knowledge, to know our God, Jesus Christ better and never stop asking Him for these gifts. For to know the Lord with your entire heart, mind and soul, is to love Him. The unsearchable riches of Christ, are the miracles we can see daily and mostly, evey second we are alive, that draw us in further to Him who gives them to us. Its the gift to learn His language. How he speaks to us every second we are in exile. The teaspoon of “Grace” every day to cure our ailing hearts and souls.
It is those souls who wish only to see the signs, without reverence and love for our Lord, who will be disapointed… We all need to put on God’s Glasses, to see in the “Spirit”. Miracles are happening around every one of us every second of our lives, but we are to self absorbed with the world to notice them thus wasting so much glory that can be given to our Lord, on nothing.
So many times in my life, I have tried to explain God in my life to people. In every instance, as many times, I was told I am reading to much into the situation. I would love to conclude that this was always the case, but I would in fact be denying God and His sovereignty. He can and does, everything.
