Happy Mothers Day

She was told of Him
She bore Him
She gave birth to Him
She held Him
She nursed Him
She changed Him
She nurtured Him
She sang to Him
She raised Him
She played with Him
She fed Him
She ticked Him
She kissed Him
She hugged Him
She attended to Him
She cried with Him
She laughed with Him
She suffered with Him
She comforted Him
She loved Him
She died with Him
She rose with Him
She sits with Him
She is mom

  1. What I love is the real world exchange of an adult son with his mother: On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Modern version probably went like this: Jesus, BenHiram just told me that the wine ran out.

Jesus to his mother: “So, what does that have to do with me?”

    Mary: Comeon!!!!

Jesus: “Look, Mom, I don’t think its my place to ‘butt-in.’” It doesn’t feel like the right time.

Mary: (Gives Jesus, “the EYE) The right time. Not the Right Time! I get it, you don’t want to do something loving, supportive?

    Jesus: (Sighs)

Mary: Tells the servants: “Do whatever he tells you!”

What I find so important to us as moms is that Mary is still guiding her son to do and be what God calls him to be. By the time of the wedding at Cana, she must have been very sure that Jesus was called to do great things and she was committed to helping him achieve his calling. Jesus on his part knows his mother well, and knows that she isn’t going to say or do anything that will be counter to what Jesus feels he must do. Perhaps there was a bit of hesitance on Jesus’ part to begin his mission, but Mary saw it as the best time! Jesus will go on to preach that he has come to serve, well, here is his miracle and what is it based on: Serving others!

    • I have NO DOUBT Mary knew the exact time and place (As it was happening in Cana) that she was to nudge her Son to become what He was to do. I believe with my entire heart, she was told everything at the Annunciation. But God had already fulfilled what she was to be the second she said yes.. The mother of our Lord. She was not to be a prophet because our Lord was there to be the fulfillment of the scripture. Mary did know everything but internalized everything she was seeing that God had said He would do. Bringing about the utmost humility and love a soul can achieve on TOP of being full of Grace! Everything for Mama Mary was in retrospect.
