Soldiers Christmas Song

I’ll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree

Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I’ll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

I’ll be home for Christmas, although written from the point of view of an overseas soldier during WWII, today for me, and for always, represents the soldier Of Christ in exile who has answered His call, longing to be home with Him and His Saints and Angels in Heaven. The soldier behind enemy lines. Knowing the battle that lies ahead through sacrifice and temptation, the wars the soul fights daily against evil, in one’s soul and in the world. The joy that God brings to the soul in these battles, ever-present in memories currently being lived, through hope, faith and love. Although at Mass, the Sanctus puts us with Him and all in heaven, while in the secular world, it is good that everything seen, sung and done, brings us close to Him and we keep Him in our every thought. We keep Him the only object of our desire.
