I see the formal excommunication of those who blatantly use the Catholic Faith as a political means to push the culture of death as an act of MERCY. Not only does it formally say, you are out of communion, but it is also a warning to those who follow the excommunicated rather than our Lord, BEFORE its to late to turn back to Him. It formally lets a soul know they are not in communion, they are not living the faith, and their actions DO NOT represent the Catholic Faith to the public also givingĀ them time to repent.
Our Lord has already drawn the line. TheĀ famine of faith in our society, has blinded many not to see our own sinfulness through His eyes. Making us complacent in our actions. We excommunicate ourselves by the mortal sins we refuse to repent of. This, IMHO, is the time for our Bishops to stand and say ENOUGH, for the purpose of the salvation of souls, because we love.
I pray for the conversion of hearts. You never realize what you lost until its gone.
Have courage! Overcome the world.
