Love Remains

When the facade of worldly society crumbles, and souls become tossed in chaos and fear, there is always just One which remains standing, and He is calling on you to turn back to Him.

Just And Unjust Laws – Martin Luther King, Jr.

50710679_2053397438070025_1270124771203350528_n

“There are two types of laws: just and unjust. I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that ‘an unjust law is no law at all.’

Now, what is the difference between the two? How does one determine whether a law is just or unjust? A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. To put it in the terms of St. Thomas Aquinas: An unjust law is a human law that is not rooted in eternal law and natural law.”

Signed,

Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Letter from a Birmingham Jail.”

Language Of Our Faith

1_nNxybrXr-YPikYvaXyDbkQ

Pondering:

“If I speak in human and angelic tongues -but do not have love, I am a resounding gong or a clashing cymbal.” – 1 Corinthians 13:1

Our faith is like a language the soul must learn. The ultimate language of Love. IF it is not “spoken” at all times, it becomes a broken language, mixed with our own, which express some Word but not fully.

If it is not “spoken” in the home, it is not being practiced.  If it is not “spoken” at work, it is being forgotten and not shared. If it is only spoken for 45 minutes on Sunday, then one is not interested in becoming “fluent” in Love, and simply not applying what is needed to speak and live it fluently. And all the times it is UNSPOKEN, opens the door to the soul for sin and separation from our Lord.

PRAYER REQUEST

ven-mother-luisita359

ATTN: Prayer Request: Through the Intercession of Mother Maria Luisa Josefa of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Carmel,

Praised be Jesus Christ! A prayer request for Damian Jude Cooper, a little eight-year-old boy who is having critical cancer surgery on December 12. This message comes from the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles, the Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Mexico and South America, and from myself.

If you could please pray for Damian and also circulate this message, we would be most grateful!

Yours in Jesus, Mary, and Mother Luisita,

Fr. Donald Kinney, OCD

PRAYER:

O Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, King and center of all hearts! Look with merciful love on the petitions we present to You through the intercession of Your servant, Mother Maria Luisa Josefa of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

(Pause and request your petition)

We humbly beseech You to glorify her who was always such a fervent lover of Your Sacred Heart by granting us these favors if they are for Your greater honor and glory. Amen.

Damian Jude Cooper, an 8-year old who has become a friend of the
Sisters, was diagnosed with a very serious form of bone cancer in July.
Damian is currently going through aggressive treatment at City of
Hope, and has good days and difficult days, but inspired us greatly with
his faith and joy amid suffering.  (PLEASE CONTINUE READING HERE)

Kiss Of Christ

I just received this beautiful reflective poem from one of my OCarm sisters of the Third Order, and I know it is not mine to keep. I must share it with you all, as I am sure you are also suffering in one way or another in this world we have come to understand as exile.

I am not sure who wrote it, as it is a variation from a Trappist Monk, but it surely speaks to me. I pray for you and I hope in all your suffering, you look deeply at our Lord in His, joining all of your suffering to His.

There He hangs — pale figure pinned against the wood.
God grant that I could love Him as I really know I should.

I draw a little closer to share that love Divine
And almost hear Him whisper, “Ah foolish child of Mine!

If I should now embrace you,
My hands would stain you red.
And if I leaned to whisper,
The thorns would pierce your head.”

And then I knew in silence that love demands a price
‘Twas then I learned that suffering is but the kiss of Christ.

God bless you.
