Happy Birthday

season

A beautiful sermon by St. Leo the Great, reminds us, that Christmas is also our birthday. As this new year closes in, my prayer for all that that we embrace the newness that our Lord has made us, as we reflect on the old, that reminds us, “I make all things new”.

May you have a blessed New Year. May our Lord grant you a new way of thinking, new life in Christ and new and beautiful outlook on what you also once were before our Lord touched your heart, that you may give the praise, glory and honor to Him. May our Lord bring His peace to all.

Happy and blessed new year.

From a sermon by Saint Leo the Great, pope
(Sermo 6 in Nativitate Domini, 2-3, 5: PL 54, 213-216)

The birthday of the Lord is the birthday of peace!

Although the state of infancy, which the majesty of the Son of God did not disdain to assume, developed with the passage of time into maturity of manhood, and although after the triumph of the passion and the resurrection all his lowly acts undertaken on our behalf belong to the past, nevertheless today’s feast of Christmas renews for us the sacred beginning of Jesus’ life, his birth from the Virgin Mary. In the very act in which we are reverencing the birth of our Savior, we are also celebrating our own new birth. For the birth of Christ is the origin of the Christian people; and the birthday of the head is also the birthday of the body.

Though each and every individual occupies a definite place in this body to which he has been called, and though all the progeny of the church is differentiated and marked with the passage of time, nevertheless as the whole community of the faithful, once begotten in the baptismal font, was crucified with Christ in the passion, raised up with him in the resurrection and at the ascension placed at the right hand of the Father, so too it is born with him in this Nativity, which we are celebrating today.

For every believer regenerated in Christ, no matter in what part of the whole world he may be, breaks with that ancient way of life that derives from original sin, and by rebirth is transformed into a new man. Henceforth he is reckoned to be of the stock, not of his earthly father, but of Christ, who became Son of Man precisely that men could become sons of God; for unless in humility he had come down to us, none of us by our own merits could ever go up to him.

Therefore the greatness of the gift which he has bestowed on us demands an appreciation proportioned to its excellence; for blessed Paul the Apostle truly teaches: We have received not the spirit of this world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. The only way that he can be worthily honored by us is by the presentation to him of that which he has already given to us.

But what can we find in the treasure of the Lord’s bounty more in keeping with the glory of this feast than that peace which was first announced by the angelic choir on the day of his birth? For that peace, from which the sons of God spring, sustains love and mothers unity; it refreshes the blessed and shelters eternity; its characteristic function and special blessing is to join to God those whom it separates from this world.

Therefore, may those who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God, offer to the Father their harmony as sons united in peace; and may all those whom he has adopted as his members meet in the firstborn of the new creation who came not to do his own will but the will of the one who sent him; for the grace of the Father has adopted as heirs neither the contentious nor the dissident, but those who are one in thought and love. The hearts and minds of those who have been reformed according to one and the same image should be in harmony with one another.

The birthday of the Lord is the birthday of peace, as Paul the Apostle says: For he is our peace, who has made us both one; for whether we be Jew or Gentile, through him we have access in one Spirit to the Father.

2016 Is Dying

christian-happy-new-year-2016-images

Tomorrow, at the stroke of Midnight, death will come to 2016. At that exact moment, the birth of 2017.

As this past year is coming to an end, and we ponder the past year in review, many who see 2016 as the worst year they have seen in regards to death, suffering and trials,  may we take it as a view of moving past a moment in history and into the new life ahead that awaits. May we look at the deaths, destruction and misery as something to avoid in the coming year and see this as a place to make the change within ourselves to not do the things that got us into this misery in the first place, again.  I pray for my readers that this is a new year to come, that includes our Lord, in the life we have been given now, to give the glory, honor and praise to Him, while we are alive and do not wait to give it to Him when others place us into our own graves. I pray for us all to look at these trials as moments to repent and not spiteful.  2016 is dying, and we should leave the hate and spite for one another, we had, die with it, looking forward to true change, in our hearts from our Lord.

When I first began to ponder the very first sentence of this blog post, what came into my heart was the first chapter of the Gospel of John. As we welcome the glorious birth of our Lord at Christmas, just a week after, the new year begins and the old is no more but memory. A moment of suffering, for eternal bliss.  The beginning of the end, that comes to the glorious Resurrection of our Lord at Easter, in which our Lord triumphs over death. A new beginning.

May we all place our faith, trust and love and hope, where it truly belongs this coming year, in our Lord Jesus Christ, completely. May you know much Peace, Joy, Love and Hope in the coming year. May you come to know Jesus Christ, who gives these to you freely and abundantly.

God bless you in the coming new year, and years to come.

New Year, New Life

eNews-Rosary

Welcome 2016! As just as this past year, glory praise and honor to our Lord for allowing us all to live to see it come and 2015 go. To be able to be charitable to the least among us and to share thoughts and experiences with you all.

The health concerns I had, are no longer a concern and to God be the glory. All the results of my tests came back and cleared me for any concern for serious illness, although painful muscle spasms in the bile ducts are to blame for a multitude of problems I have experienced for a few years now. Its a condition know as SOD <— See the link. All controllable with the correct medication. I pray for souls who also have this condition as its not easy to detect and family often times lose patience with you when the tests you undergo come back negative but the pain and miserable condition of your life in this pain and suffering, continues.

With this new year comes new life for me. A life now, that has placed all the issues of medical concern behind with hopes of living an even more a deeper life in Christ. I pray now, for greater changes in my home life as my children are becoming older and feel a bigger need to up our family prayer life. As of now, my children & I pray the Rosary daily and we actually look forward to this time we are granted to pray together. I feel a need to introduce Divine Office to them, just Vespers to start, before we pray the Rosary to together. That is my goal for 2016. To help my children learn the faith in a deeper, lasting way, to help them in their lives to come.

As we begin 2016, I have come to realize this year and the years to come, have nothing to do with me and need to be dedicated through the service of our Lord for others. Use me Lord, and do with me as You see fit. All glory, praise and honor is Yours. Amen

A Time For Preparing

First_Communion

Today is supply day at my children’s school. As parents prepare for the new school year, I can’t help but see this coming year as a great preparation time. After our Lord, over my lifetime as prepared me to understand His love for us, in Holy Communion, I am now ready to teach my children how to prepare to receive Him in the Holy Eucharist. We spend so much time preparing our children for the world and often overlook our Lord in that preparation. We can’t continue on this lost path where soccer and cheerleading end up being more important than life.

My little daughter Violet is ready for third grade. She will be receiving our Lord for the first time next spring. I will be spending this time, not only in more of a family way with my first vocation, as mother, but much deeper in preparing my daughter to understand that to live life to the fullest, has to be done completely immersed in the love of our Lord. I hope all parents understand that the love our Lord has for them, is just the same for the children He gives to us and without proper teaching for us, living the faith, the love He extends to us, falls on deaf ears, thus leaving hearts to the elements of the world, to turn to stone.

I pray today, and always, that parents all over the world understand that receiving children in the name of our Lord, means following through with teaching them the importance of the faith me have. First Holy Communion is the wedding of your child’s soul, to that of our Lord’s. It’s not about the dress or the clothing. It’s not about the party after. It’s about a life long commitment between the soul crate in the image of God and Him, to love one another as He loves us. I know in my heart, parents and children alike, need to go “Back to School” and learn to love our Lord above all things…

Kiss At Midnight

imagesCAM4LQFR

I was blessed with spending one hour in adoration with our Lord last night. After thanking Him for the blessings of 2012 and for the coming year, I prayed for the soul of Frank Duff and began The Legion of Mary Tessera and Divine Mercy. Just after praying for Frank Duff, a knock came on the door. I don’t normally get up to see who i is, but this time was different. I opened the exterior door and a young man was there. He thanked me for opening the door and told me he was from out-of-town and just wanted to spend some time with our Lord. I smiled and said “Come on in” and lead him to Adoration. It was funny really. The man was young and had a bright red-head of hair and very pale skin. You could see the Irish everywhere. After showing him the way, I began praying Tessera and became lost in the Holy Rosary.

After about and hour, I was left alone in the chapel with our Lord. I was full of joy and got down to my knees just adoring Him. As I came up, I kissed my hand then placed it on the tabernacle. Not realizing what I had done at the exact hour, it was Midnight in NY State. 2013 had arrived and I found myself kissing our Lord, through the Holy Tabernacle.
