Most Holy Trinity Sunday

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Its been a very busy few days for me. My husband graduated from College with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, and his celebration was on the same day of our children’s last day of school, on this past Friday. Yesterday morning, I woke early and drove to meet my sister in Las Vegas, who was helping my niece move.

I made the drive to Vegas, to see my sister and pick up a box of very old photos and mementos from our family.  Photos of my parents and other relatives my children have never met. Its a way for me to show them the many souls that have helped to create our “family”.  The six hour drive from San Diego, on Saturday morning, was full of prayer and reflection on our Lord. Not anything near as beautiful as this morning has been, in the celebration of Holy Mass for the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity.

My sister and I had planned on attending the 11:00 AM Holy Mass at Guardian Angles Cathedral in Las Vegas, but as plans often change, I was awake a little after five-thirty this morning and we were able to attend the 8:00 AM Holy Mass.  It was easy to find the Cathedral and when we pulled out front and parked, we had arrived about an hour early.

I contemplated the design of the Church and the mosaic on the front. (Photo above at the top of the post). The message is very clear although the art itself, modern as it is,  isn’t exactly what sparks in me.  As we entered the Cathedral, as I normally do, my eyes sought our Lord in the Tabernacle. He wasn’t behind the Altar. So we looked deeper and my heart lead us to a small room off to the left of the Altar.

We prayed in front of our Lord until Mass was about to begin. In contemplation, I struggled with the design and the things that didn’t register with me. I tried to focus on the Glorious Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. Still with reverence to our Lord and the Truth of His presence here.  As we finished praying, we went to see the little gift shop in the back of the Cathedral, which contained many beautiful religious things.

As Holy Mass was about to start, we took our place inside once again, and I began to pray. Holy Mass in this place, was so beautiful, It changed my entire outlook of what I thought wasn’t appeasing to my eyes. At the very moment of Transubstantiation,  our Lord’s presence on the Altar, I heard in my heart, “Look through”.  The eyes in my heart began to see what He was saying to me. The entire Cathedral was full of the symbolism of the Most Holy Trinity. The TRIANGLE. Looking beyond the art that didn’t speak in me, I could see very clearly what our Lord in the Eucharist was saying and showing me. The inner beauty of this place being the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. All present.

As Holy Mass ended, I left this beautiful Cathedral in the heart of “Sin City”, in His peace, knowing the Triumph of our Lord with fresh eyes, in the Most Holy Trinity.

The above photo of the stained glass window can be found at the link below. Its called:

Freedom and Obedience – Freedom and Love
Station II & III

Guardian Angel Cathedral Link for the art

The photo at the beginning of this post was taken by my sister, the others were taken from other public sites on the internet.

If you find yourself in “Sin City”, I highly suggest a visit to Holy Mass. Often.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.

Amen.

Jubilee Year of Fatima: 100 Years

OLF

The picture above, was taken by me at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, in Lemon grove, CA, on Thursday, September 8, 2011. It was the day of the great Southwest Blackout and the Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima was visiting my parish at the time. It was the most beautiful event I had attended.

OLF2

The church was lit as we set up for the Pilgrim Statues arrival, and had  a procession of our Lady of Fatima scheduled along with Exposition of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament all day and praying the Holy Rosary on the hour, every hour, by different ministry’s in our Parish, from the time of its arrival, to the time of its departure, concluding with benediction.

Our Lord

You can see in this photo, at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, we have a huge stained glass window in the back of the church of all the Archangels. As you can see, it is reflecting on our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. To see this in person was spectacular!

OLF3

At 3;38 PM, the lights went out due to the largest power outage in California history and we began to light the Church by candlelight, as the sun began to set.

OLF1

Thanks to a few souls, we had two flashlights provided also, to help others for the Liturgy and to place more light on the statue of our Holy Mother.

Procession

The procession was lovely and the moon became big and bright this night, as it became the light to guide us on our way.

OLF4

I will never forget this day. So many beautiful things occurred to bring many souls together under the most complex circumstances, to make this day and evening, one of the more beautiful days of our lives in prayer.

Fatima 5

On this Saturday, May 13, 2017, it marks 100 years since the first Apparition of our Lady to the shepherd children in Fatima Portugal. I will be attending a special meeting with my Carmelite Brothers and Sisters for Holy Mass, a renewal of our Carmelite Promises and listening to a talk given by our former Spiritual Director. Later Saturday Night, my husband and I will be attending “Date Night” at our Parish, in which Married couples come together to reflect on the love they have for one another through the Sacrament of Marriage. I mention this,  for this reason:

Sister Lucia dos Santos, one of the three children who witnessed the Marian apparitions at Fatima, died in 2005. But before her death, she predicted that the final battle between Christ and Satan would be over marriage and the family.

Thank you Our Lady of Fatima, for prayers answered. I pray again, through you Most Beautiful Flower, Our Lady of Fatima, intercede for us still, and for the entire world, for the conversion of sinners, for the intentions of our Holy Father Pope Francis and for all the intentions of the Sacred Heart of your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen

Repent, and believe.

Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence opportunity for the 100th anniversary of the Fatima apparitions throughout the centennial year, from the 27th of November 2016 till the 26th of November 2017.

Our Lady of Fatima, Pray for us!

Our Father:

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

The Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

The Vocation of Marriage

What is a Vocation?

Catholic Dictionary

Term

VOCATION

Definition

A call from God to a distinctive state of life, in which the person can reach holiness. The Second Vatican Council made it plain that there is a “Universal call [vocatio] to holiness in the Church” (Lumen Gentium, 39). (Etym. Latin vocatio, a calling, summoning; from vocare, to call.)

As a woman, married to my husband, and also one who has accepted our Lords call for me to the Third Order of Carmel, I can strongly attest to the importance of “Ongoing Formation” with my brothers and sister in Carmel. We meet once a month, now, after a few years of discernment on my part, and my orders, as to, is this the correct path for me? Am I doing this because of a call from our Lord or am I doing this for selfish ideal, or for some other purpose that our Lord has not designed? There is a lot of time spent, in prayer and pondering a big decision as this.

As a married woman, when I look through my entire life, now, I can attest to the strong need for formation, BEFORE the Sacrament of Marriage, starting at a young age, before one jumps into the Vocation blind. As a soul who has had my fair share of interaction of others, who did not understand the Sacred Bond of the Vocation of Marriage, I ate up all the false ideas of this vocation, including the one that the world tries to feed us, that if it doesn’t work, just leave. No. When we come to understand that decision to leave, is nothing but toxic poison that kills family due our own underdeveloped conscious, we end up making life worse for not only us, but for all the souls effected by the sudden departure of a new family destroyed by divorce.

When I was very young, I held the strong belief that if one were to have relations with someone, they were in fact married and nothing could take that bond back that the two shared together. It was a bond no one else had a right to share with either of the two. The most toxic thing someone told me, not long after I presented that belief I held at a very young age, was, that was the dumbest thing I could ever think or believe. Today, at the age of 50, I forgive that person and know I was right. Hindsight is 20/20. Very clearly I can see that if I had souls in my life at that time, who backed up what we believe in our faith, my life may have been a lot less painful. Only our Lord knows. But I also see how merciful He is, to lead me back to Him and that train of thought which keeps me on His track. Able to teach my daughters how important it is, to preserve the gift of self for the time our Lord has laid  out for us, be it Marriage or Religious Life and not just cast ourselves wherever and whenever.

Getting back to the Vocation,  A call from God to a distinctive state of life, in which the person can reach holiness. With my Vocation in Marriage, I am called to help my husband get to heaven. As he is called in this Vocation, to help me get to heaven. Last year, we were so greatly attacked spiritually and physically, this call could have ended. Through the grace of our Lord, I held on tight knowing, His love, His mercy, His call, that there was no way, on my part, I could allow something like the demon of divorce to be allowed to part, what our Lord had placed together. The temptation to walk away came dangerously close, until I was able to see how “easy” the evil one was making it to leave. I dug in and held on to our Lord, and last weekend, my husband and I renewed our Marriage Vows. This was not something we planned or set up for us to do. I had accepted a fill in request to be an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for the Saturday Holy Mass, which we very rarely attend, and it was a special event that had been a part of Saturdays Holy Mass, without prior knowledge of either of us.

Today, there is a report from Pope Francis:

Marriage prep should be more than just a few courses, Pope tells priests

I can not tell you how much support I have for this as I am one who truly believes that Marriage preparation begins in the home, the moment our children are given to us as parents. Formation is a life long process, which should be deeply taught to youth, before they even set out in search of a spouse.

I will leave this here, with a quote in which I find to be so true and one I see to even today, in my current state of Life, in my Vocation of Marriage.

Post US Election Observation

jesus-king-of-kings

I need to make one thing very clear to some Catholics on facebook, (edit to add: and Catholics all over “social media”) attacking other Catholics who voted for Trump. Remember when we had Primary’s in this country and the same folks who were FORCED to vote for Trump in the General Election, did NOT in any way support Trump and choose another candidate? No. You don’t. Because you can’t see past the beam in your own eye while you try to pick the sliver out of your neighbors eye.

Your third party candidate didn’t win. Clinton didn’t win. And when THIS Catholic voted for Trump, I held my nose and voted, doing my civic duty, because NEITHER candidate was, in my mind, worthy of the title of President of the USA. As for your third party Candidate? I live in California, and a vote for ANY candidate not a Democrat, doesn’t matter because this state is so blue, its dead. I have grown tired of being accused of Trump Worship or any political leader worship simply because I didn’t vote for YOUR guy, by those who obviously do not understand that there ARE people in this country who do not worship political leaders, NOR the “Idols” we create for ourselves which separate us from our Lord.

Adding to the pettiness of the communist & socialist protests in the streets, by engaging in the same Anti-Catholic rhetoric as they do, falsely accusing your Brothers & Sisters in Christ, and attacking back with prideful hurt “feelings” because you can’t yet live the Beatitudes, brings NOTHING to the Glory of our Lord. I highly suggest you put away your political rantings reeking of idol worship hidden behind the banner of “Social Justice”, which truly exposes your false piety, and lack of love for neighbor and return to your first Love. 1 John 4:18.

Here is the thing about the political left and political right. They both practice the same religion of nationalism. The hate on one side, is no different than the hate on the other side. I beg my brothers & sister in Christ, to pull closer to our Lord. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Hold fast and tight to our Lord. Practice what is preached. Pray more and LOVE anyway. – Peg Demetris

Discipleship Comes With Persecution

per1

Regarding:

If We Reject Trump, We May Be Inviting Persecution

The election is not Constantine VS Diocletian.

Discipleship and persecution in this world are in union. Although bitter at times, sweetness soon follows. It is what we do with this persecution, that can make or break us. When we see our persecution from the view of our Lord, mounted on the Cross, our vantage point changes and our vision becomes further, our faith in Him becomes stronger, and we come to see the great vastness of the souls who have not yet come to understand the beautiful love of our Lords passion. “Enter through the narrow gate”.

No matter who you vote for, discipleship comes with persecution to those who live and breath the faith. When we vote, we are voting for a political leader. We are not giving them our heart, mind and soul so to worship them. We are called to vote, we are not called to   worship them, nor the political party they belong to.. “No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.” But, this persecution also comes with the JOY of our Lord. “And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.”.

In this moment, when we are Crucified with Him,  we come to the full realization that the “world” lost its moral compass long ago and everything we, while attached to it, had done, had been for vanity. In this moment, we can choose to let go of the attachment to it, no matter what this attachment may be,  and grasp the absolute love and peace of Christ, freely pulling closer to Him, placing all our hope and trust in Him and not the things of this world. Then, we can as He asks, set the world on fire with Him. “Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.”

What this election has become, is the choice between worldly illusions, or discipleship. If you choose discipleship, keep in mind, His name is not on the voting ballot, as He is already our King, our Lord and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Follow Him.
